Counseling and Advising

Counseling and Advising

How can Butte College Counseling help you? The Counseling Department is here to provide academic, personal and career counseling services for students wishing to fulfill vocational, transfer, personal and/ or professional development goals. Counselors assist students by exploring interests, abilities, strengths, and achievements in determining and planning programs to obtain those goals. We promote and support our diverse campus community.

Not sure how to chart your path to academic and career goals? Counselors use assessment data, prior academic history, and life experiences to determine the academic preparedness of the student. We're also here to help if your goals are unclear.

As a new student, seeing a counselor is probably the most important thing you can do. Our counselors can help you find the right level of classes and assist you in designing an educational plan to help you meet your educational and career goals. Counselors work closely with students to formulate a short or long term student educational plan.

Are you experiencing personal issues that are affecting your academic performance? We can listen and direct you to Butte College's many support services and community resources. Our Counselors are skilled at assisting students with a variety of concerns which affect their educational success.

The ability to find timely information about your education is important. We suggest staying current by continuing an on-going relationship with the Counseling Department. We can help you better utilize on-line research tools related to outside academic programs and employment opportunities.

The Butte Counseling Department full time and part-time faculty and staff assist our students in three different locations: The Main campus, Chico Center, and the Glenn Center in Orland. All of our Counseling faculty are "generalists," though we also have counselors specific to our International and Student Athlete population.

Butte students can also access Counseling through other programs on campus:
