The Butte College Associated Students Culture & Community Center (CCC) will honor Women’s History Month during the month of March. The month of March has been nationally recognized as Women’s History Month since 1987 by Congress. Activities will focus on empowering men and women to understand the contributions of women throughout history as they contribute to our society today. Events will take place at the Butte College main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive and Chico Center 2320 Forest Avenue. All events are free to the campus and community.
March 6 & 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Campus Center Lounge, “Honoring Women in our Lives” The Culture and Community Center staff will be giving out roses in the Campus Center Lounge. Rose recipients are encouraged to pass roses onto important women in their lives.
March 27 from 11 a.m. – noon in the Culture & Community Center (Swing Space F building, next to Arts), “One Way to Make a Difference Everyday Workshop” This workshop will focus on the power of words and how to use them to make a difference each day.
March 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Chico Center Student Lounge (Chico Center Room 146), Things We Don’t Talk About: Women’s Stories from the Red Tent” This documentary film shows how the Red Tent empowers women by sharing the things that they hide and the things that bring them pain and joy. Discussion will follow the film.
March 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Culture & Community Center (Swing Space F building, next to Arts), “Circle of Stones” This event will bring together a multi-generational group of women to learn from each other through story sharing and life wisdom in a nurturing environment. Women will leave feeling empowered, rejuvenated, and inspired to begin building their own circle of support. Space is limited, please register by calling (530) 895-2392 by March 27.
