"The exciting part about working with speech and debate students is you know that these students can be the game changers--we're working with future leaders of industry, workplace, and government. These are the students who go out and change the world. It's inspirational!' said Christina Barber, Butte College Communication Studies instructor.
In addition to Barber, the team is coached by Stephan Ban, Communication Studies associate faculty member; associate English faculty members Kiara Koenig and Corey Gruber, a former team member; and Theresa Perry, an assistant debate team coach at Chico State and former Butte Speech and Debate team member.
On December 8, the Speech and Debate Team will host "Afternoon of Words and Performance" from 4 – 5:30 p.m. showcasing their skills at the main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, inside the Center for Excellence.
"It's so inspiring to see our amazing students. They work so hard and learn so much! Speech & Debate team helps our students develop their research and critical thinking skills, team work, and more," said Barber.
