For the first time, the Butte College Environmental Horticulture Nursery at the main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, will join eight wineries and 19 farms in Butte County for the Sierra Oro Farm Trail Passport Weekend.
The Sierra Oro Farm Trail Passport Weekend, October 9 and 10, is an annual event covering a 60-mile loop that runs through Chico, Paradise and Oroville with stops along the way at open houses hosted by some of the county’s most unique wineries, specialty farms and the college’s Environmental Horticulture Nursery.
In addition to enjoying the local faire of the county – nuts, olives, olive oil, wine, grass-fed meats, sausages and cheeses and a variety of locally grown fruits and vegetables – this year’s passport holders will also have the opportunity to learn about the college’s horticulture program and purchase plants at 30 – 50 percent off their regular prices.
While the college nursery is part of the Farm Trail event, passport tickets are not necessary to take advantage of this huge sale. The nursery will be open to the public October 9 and 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
To participate in the full Farm Trail event, Passport Tickets, $20 in advance and $25 during the weekend, are required. The Passport Tickets, which include trail map and directions, are available for purchase online at www.sierraoro.org at Northern California Tri Counties Bank locations, Bacio Catering and Carryout in Chico, and at the Chico, Oroville and Paradise Chambers of Commerce.
