Butte College Performing Arts will hold auditions for “Cabaret” on May 18 and 19 from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Butte College Theatre on the Main Campus (ARTS 160), 3536 Butte Campus Drive. Auditions for both men and women who dance or sing or both. Attendees are asked to bring a prepared song of at least 20 bars, but not from the musical “Cabaret.” A piano accompanist will be provided. Sheet music is recommended. Cold readings from the script and some movement will take place. Dress comfortably. Rehearsal will begin August 23 and performances will be held November 4-14 at the Butte College Arts Theatre.
The musical "Cabaret" by Joe Mastnoff, takes place in Germany in the 1930's. The audience is invited, by the emcee, to escape to the Kit Kat Klub and leave all their troubles behind. Originally seen in 1966 where it won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical. “Cabaret” is best known for the 1972 film version which starred Liza Minnelli, Joel Gray and Michael York which one eight Oscars.
