Session Descriptions

Bb Orientation
Are you new to teaching at Butte College, or need a quick refresher? This session is the best place to begin your discovery of what the Blackboard system can do for you and your students, in and out of the classroom.
 


Bb Management
This session will guide instructor usage of the Control Panel in each Bb course to manage files, run reports, customize, import/export functions, and much more!
 


Bb Assignments
In this session instructors will get a renewed approach to creating qualitatively graded assignments with an emphasis on articulating clear and concise instructions for optimal results.
 


Bb Tests & Surveys
Tired of using scantrons? This session focuses on the basics of creating assessments using the Tests and Surveys tools in Bb, including configuration of options for deployment w/ emphasis on integrity.
 


Bb Communications
This session is aimed at giving instructors a basic overview of using of Blogs, Journals, Discussions, Wikis, etc. to ensure active interaction in a class.
 


Bb Grade Center
This session will give faculty members the basics in setting up and managing the Grade Center in every Bb course.
 


Bb Accessibility
An overview of methods for instructors in evaluating the accessibility of their own course materials, in or out of Bb. For a complete checklist of all ADA Section 508 items to be aware of, please visit the Bb User Community and look for the “Accessibility” link.
 


Bb Mash-ups
In this session staff will demonstrate how instructors can use YouTube, SlideShare, etc. to provide access to rich media to enhance instruction. Mash-ups are commonly defined as more than one web service used in conjunction with another.
 


Bb Rubrics (Bb)
In this session, faculty will be shown how to leverage Bb’s Rubrics tool for clear expectations of quality for discussions and written assignment, complete with grades.
 


Anti-Plagiarism (Bb)
In this session faculty will discover how best to implement and use Bb’s anti-plagiarism service, SafeAssign.
 


Banners
In this session faculty will learn to create and customize a course with a professional looking course banner, complete with title and name. Since a banner is not made in Bb, staff will showcase a variety of web based image editing platform.
 


Respondus
Learn to setup and utilize this powerful tool third party tool for creating and importing assessments directly into Bb.
