Dr. Cen is Dean of Student Learning and Director of Library Services. Prior to her appointment as director, she was a Butte College Reference Librarian for six years. Before joining Butte College, Luozhu held a variety of positions at institutions of higher learning in both China and the U.S.
Luozhu earned her Ph.D. in Educational Organization, Administration and Policy and Academic Librarianship at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1996, and received her Master of Library Science degree from the same University in 1990. She studied for two years in England and obtained her undergraduate degree in China.
Luozhu has a keen interest in the history of academic libraries. For her doctoral dissertation, she did extensive research on the incredible changes libraries have undergone over the past two decades, especially in the areas of automation and the application of information technologies. She enjoys working with faculty and students in meeting their information needs in their teaching and learning.
