2013 Track and Field
After competing in the NorCal Multis this past Tuesday and Wednesday, we have secured our first 3 qualifiers for the State Championships scheduled for next month at the College of San Mateo.
In the Decathlon, we have 2 young men, Spencer Stockton and Chase Kabisch, who will represent our school by placing 3rd and 5th at our past meet. Stockton finished in 3rd with a combined score of 6081 and Kabisch was 5th at 5995. Both of these marks place them in the top 10 in school history and Stockton’s mark currently puts him at 5th in the State. Going in to the last event of the competition (the 1500), Kabisch was in 7th place and needed to finish in the top 6 to advance to State. He ran a lifetime best (4:43.45) to finish 4th in that event and that was good enough to move him up to 5th place by 2 points in front of the 6th place finisher. The Decathlon is the first scored event of the NorCal Championships and our Men’s team currently sits in 2nd place. The NorCal Championships will be held at American River College in Sacramento on May 11th. We were also represented at the NorCal Multis by Gary Hemmingsen.

Earlier in the day we competed in the Heptathlon. Our top finisher, Bailey Moss, was in a very similar situation to Kabisch going into her last event (the 800). Moss was sitting in 7th place and was only 24 points out of 6th and the chance to qualify for State. She also ran a lifetime best (2:26.63) beating the two competitors in front of her to lock up her ticket to the State Meet. She beat one of them by 11 seconds and the other by 20 seconds to jump into her 5th place finish with a score of 3720 (7th in School History). Moss is also currently ranked #2 in NorCal in the 400 Hurdles as well. Lawna Sannar finished at 9th overall at the event with a score of 3377 (8th in School History).
