Annie Rafferty, as Director, Contract Education, Training and Development, is responsible for the quality, effectiveness and development of the instructional design, facilitation, delivery and implementation of all training programs for Butte College's Contract Education.
Since joining Butte College in 2008, Annie has facilitated Butte College Contract Education's growth of 65.3% serving annually 1,500 local employees at the Training Place, over 4,500 employees with customized on-site employer training for over 150 employers. She holds responsibility for providing affordable training contract services with a 100% cost recovery model.
Annie brings 23 years of industry experience from the ICT Group, Inc., a Global provider of outsourced customer management and business process outsourcing solutions based in Newtown, Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia. As Senior Vice President, Global Training and Development, she held responsibility for a $22 million dollar training department with over 300 learning professionals, instructional designers and facilitators leading training programs for over 20,000 employees at 42 global customer care, sales, market research and direct marketing contact offices in 9 countries. Her experience fostering high-level consultative relationships with diverse market sectors has given her a solid foundation to design learning programs for new hire job training, industry specific knowledge, customer service, sales and technology systems navigation skills, train the trainer, management, supervisor and leadership programs.
Annie's holds a Bachelor of Science with honors in Marketing from Rider University and Master of Science with honors in Training & Organizational Development from Saint Joseph's University. She actively participates with the North Valley Lean Group, CEPCO Technology Group, Butte County Human Resources Group, OEDCO, The Chico Chamber, Butte County Farm Bureau and the Chico Fab Facilitators Group. Annie's passion for community service and sustainability also include participation in Butte College Sustainability Steering Committee activities; Green Technology & Energy Efficiency Job training and development, TWTS VI Sustainability Conference Chair and the CSU, Chico State Jack Rawlins's Advisory Board Chair.
Jonathan "Joc" Clark works as a facilitator, process consultant and trainer. He has been working within leadership, team and organization development for 25+ years. He specializes in creating collaborative working environments. His services include: customized organization development, team building; executive coaching; meeting facilitation; strategic planning and change management; and the facilitation of participatory processes, outdoor, multicultural and action learning experiences.
Catherine Goggia is a certified professional coach and trainer with more than twenty-five years of private sector work experience and over fifteen years dedicated to workforce development at Butte College, The Training Place and the Butte College, Business Education Department. She has also worked as a Subject Matter Expert for the Chabot-Las Positas Training and Development Solution
Since 2004 at the Butte College, Training Place, thousands of participants have consistently rated Catherine as a motivational and involved trainer. Catherine’s natural consultative style helps diffuse emotional turmoil and inspire personal excellence in diverse and changing environments. As a coach, Catherine supports client's natural inclination to evolve by dismantling old paradigms and empowering expanded visions for personal and professional success.
Catherine’s private sector work experience includes corporate level sales and marketing including capital goods, long-term service programs, and customer relationship management. In addition, her experience with county, city and non-profit organizations brings value for organizations with practical skills and tools that can be applied immediately and knowledge based on real-life work experience.
Catherine holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Bachelor of Arts in English from California State University, Chico. She is a Certified Professional Coach through the Fowler Wainwright International Institute of Professional Coaching and holds a Certification as a facilitator for Development Dimensions International (DDI). Catherine was the recipient of the Butte College Academic Excellence Award in 2001.
George has worked in many diverse aspects of vocational services for 25 years. Specific areas of expertise include helping employers control workers compensation costs, disability evaluation, ergonomics, jobsite modification, FEHA/ADA consulting, medical case management, and facilitating a practical approach to good business.
He holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, certification as a Disability Management Professional, a national Rehabilitation Certification, and is the principal of Grams & Associates in Chico, California. Professional endeavors include developing and implementing Disability Management/Return to work programs for Union Pacific Railroad, California Department of Corrections, Butte County, Department of Veteran Affairs, and a number of smaller employers.
Jeanne began working in local government in the early 1980s. Previous to her current position as the Butte County Director of Human Resources, she worked for Trinity County as the Personnel Officer/Human Resources Manager for nine years. She has worked for Butte County for the last seven years and as the Director of Human Resources she is responsible for the management and oversight of the County's recruitment program, labor relations, labor contract negotiations, supervisory and management training, sexual harassment prevention training, merit system and personnel rule administration, civil rights compliance, ADA coordination, grievance administration, disciplinary processes, and the county's classification & compensation plan for over 2,000 employees. Jeanne's Bachelor of Arts degree is in human resource and business management. In her human resource career, Jeanne has been instrumental in the creation, development, and delivery of training programs in such topics as: interviewing to hire, performance development and evaluation, progressive discipline, grievance & MOU administration, sexual harassment prevention and non-discrimination.
Margi Johnston has been a Butte College Associate Faculty member for the Business Department for approximately nine years. She currently teaches Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Access), WordPerfect, Computers for Beginners, Center for Academic Success Critical Skills workshops, and Personal Computer Use Classes for The Training Place.
Prior to teaching for Butte College, Margi established and was the director for a Vocational Training School and the owner of a hardware and software retail/repair establishment.
Margi holds a Master's Degree in Education, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Marketing from Indiana University, a Paralegal Credential and a Certificate in Online Education.
Bob has 30-plus years of experience in Leadership and Professional Development, Organization Development, Change Management, Executive Coaching, and specializes in building high performance and high commitment workplaces. Bob has held management-leadership positions for most of his career. He has a Ph.D. in Human & Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University.
Bob has had a number of careers in diverse industries. He started his career at Trans World Airlines. At TWA, he designed, developed and delivered professional development courses and later managed Passenger Services at SFO. At Advanced Micro Devices, Bob led a transformation of world-wide manufacturing and founded the Organization Development practice. He was then the Director of Leadership and Organization Development at start-up Northpoint Communications in SF.
At Development Dimensions International, Bob was as an external Sr. Organization Effectiveness consultant working with companies such as Starbucks, GM, Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Blue Cross, among many others. Bob was most recently Director of the Strategic Change/Organization Development Center of Excellence for Lockheed Martin.

She has a Master's Degree in Education and is completing a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership & Management.Shannon has 15 years of experience in the field of education, corporate training, organizational development, management consulting, leadership development, process improvement, and systems-thinking. Jes Vargas has over 24 years of experience in the fields of Engineering, Quality, Project Management, Business Development, Manufacturing and Executive Management at such companies as GCS Inc, Bombardier, Advance Technical Systems, Siemens and Rabbit Semiconductor. Throughout his career Mr. Vargas has serviced as a prime change agent within organizations. Mr. Vargas holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering, a MBA in Operations and certifications in TQM, Material Management, and Lean Manufacturing.
Shawn holds over 15 years of professional training and academic teaching experience. His enthusiasm is contagious. It’s easy to see why he was voted “Favorite Teacher” at Chico High where he taught history for four years. In addition to Shawn’s California Teaching Credential, he holds industry certifications including Level 100 Coach US Ski Association, CalTrans Construction, Standards and Specifications; Trenching and Shoring Safety, Traffic Control Procedures, MSAT, BTSA, TESA and Fred Jones Positive Classroom Discipline certifications. Shawn is a program delivery specialist, keynote speaker and leadership trainer for Odyssey Teams Incorporated facilitating change development, team-building programs. He continues to work with kids as a youth coordinator and engage in philanthropic leadership activities.
